A golf event that brought Colombia and Panama together through sport
On March 28th, the Military Golf Club in Sopó, Colombia, hosted the 5th Women’s Golf Tournament—a vibrant event celebrating talent and passion for golf in its most inclusive form. This year, the tournament was named the Copa Tucán Country Club in recognition of the support provided by Tucán Country Club and Tucán Golf Club of Panama, the event’s official sponsors. The occasion marked another step forward in strengthening international partnerships through sport.
An international golf event with purpose
The presence of our commercial team from Tucán Country Club, alongside Panamanian attorney Raúl Leis, an expert in migration and commercial matters, allowed us to share with attendees a clear vision of the opportunities Panama offers as a place to live, invest, and enjoy golf. This golf event served as an ideal platform to promote the advantages of becoming a Panamanian resident, including retiree visa programs.
During the lunch and awards ceremony, I had the opportunity, representing Tucán, to explain the details of the active agreement between both clubs, signed in September 2024, which allows members to enjoy shared benefits. These golf club events open doors to new opportunities and strengthen relationships between communities united by their love for the sport.
In addition, these international alliances are promoted with the goal of benefiting the Tucán Golf community, offering new experiences and access to top-level golf venues. This initiative reinforces our commitment to our members and reflects our vision of being a balanced, exclusive, and wellness-oriented community.
Golf tournaments that connect stories and build lasting partnerships
The women’s golf tournament was also the setting for a meaningful story. During our first meeting with the management of the Military Golf Club, Mr. Germán Mejía, the current manager, shared that he had worked in Panama over 20 years ago, at the same time as Mr. Sagar Vishindas, who is now the owner of Tucán Country Club. Although they did not meet in person during this event, the coincidence highlighted how golf can unexpectedly connect people and lives over time.
This story gave deeper meaning to the alliance between Tucán Golf and the Military Golf Club, showing how golf goes beyond just the game, it builds connections, opens paths, and unites cultures.
A women’s golf tournament filled with family spirit and competition
The atmosphere throughout the day was truly special. The players, all wearing coordinated uniforms, shared the course with their husbands or family members who served as caddies. This gesture added a meaningful and emotional touch to the tournament, reinforcing the importance of family in the world of golf.
Several players arrived in coordinated colors, creating a unique sense of camaraderie and style. The positive energy, the excitement of playing, and the pride in representing their clubs were present in every round. During the awards ceremony, Captain Ospina, president of the Military Golf Club, proudly accompanied his wife as her caddie and shared heartfelt words about the importance of events that highlight and elevate women’s golf.
Military Golf Club: excellence, development, and community
In addition to hosting this important golf tournament, the Military Golf Club is known for its impressive 18-hole course, located in Bogotá’s savannah. This natural setting presents a real challenge for players, requiring strategic thinking and precision in every round.
The club also features a six-hole children’s course, showcasing its strong commitment to training young talent and promoting the sport from an early age. This comprehensive approach not only makes the Military Golf Club one of the top clubs in the region but also contributes significantly to growing the sport among future generations.
During the tournament weekend, an internal event was held for members, where the professionalism, passion, and camaraderie of the community were clearly on display. As Tucán Country Club, we had the opportunity to tour the course, connect with members, and share enriching experiences that strengthen the relationship between both clubs.
